Mo’Nique Says Tyler Perry Must Apologize Loudly & Pay Up to End 12-Year Feud

Mo’Nique has never been shy about where she stands with Tyler Perry, and she’s not letting up until she gets what she feels she deserves. In a new interview on Outlaws with TS Madison, the Oscar-winning actress once again addressed her long-standing beef with Perry, saying there’s only one way the feud will ever end: a public apology and financial restitution.

The tension between the two dates back to 2009, when Mo’Nique declined to promote Precious overseas. Perry labeled her “difficult to work with,” a narrative she says cost her millions of dollars and over a decade of lost opportunities.

“For 12 years, that lie has cost me my livelihood, which messes with my family,” she said during the sit-down. “You publicly shamed me, so now you have to publicly fix it. Tyler Perry, you cost my family millions, and millions, and millions of dollars.”

Mo’Nique explained that, much like how filmmaker Lee Daniels publicly apologized to her in 2022 after their falling out, she expects Perry to take accountability in the same way. “Until he fixes it, I will not stop… either you’ll fix it in life or you’ll be dealt with in death.”

She added that her fight isn’t just about herself but about speaking up for others who could be harmed by similar actions. “As long as I can help it, I’m saying: ‘Tyler Perry, you will not do this to another.’”

When asked directly if she wanted both an apology and money, Mo’Nique didn’t hesitate: “Yes, and I say that unapologetically. You are on tape saying what you did to me was wrong.”

Back in March, she even wrote an open letter calling out Perry for a public apology he allegedly promised her back in 2016 but never delivered. In it, she reminded him of the “false narrative you perpetuated” that helped blacklist her from Hollywood.

For Mo’Nique, the path to peace is clear: go public, own up, and make it right. Until then, she says, the fight isn’t stopping.
